An ecosystem is a community of living organisms and their abiotic (to things that are not alive or never were alive) environment. The size can vary and they can exist in freshwater, marine, and terrestrial. In this blog we are going to focus on terrestrial biomes, in which we can observe different types of it. A biome is a large-scale community of organisms, primarily defined on land by the dominant plant types that exist in geographic regions of the planet with similar climatic conditions. In this blog we are going to introduce each type of biome terrestrial and learn about their characteristics: TROPICAL FOREST It is a broadleaf evergreen forest, a type of forest where the trees have leaves that stay green throughout the year, and the trees have broad, flat leaves (not needle-like).   CHAPTER 11: WE ARE IN CONSTANT EVOLUTION Charles Darwin proposed that species can change over time, that new species come from pre-existing species, and that all species share a common ancestor. CHARLES DARWIN AND ALFRED RUSSELL WALLACE Charles Darwin and Alfred Russell Wallace were scientists who spent time exploring the natural world on expeditions to the tropics. They observed species that were similar but had distinct differences. Wallace and Darwin both observed similar patterns in other organisms and independently conceived a mechanism to explain how and why such changes could take place. Finally, Darwin called this mechanism natural selection, which is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring (the babies or children of animals and people). THE PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  PLANT, DO PHOTOSYNTHESIS IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE! Unlike animals, plants can produce their own food through photosynthesis. This is a chemical process by which they transform inorganic substances into organic ones through the absorption of sunlight, water and CO2. Thanks to this, plants can grow and develop while generating oxygen for the planet. With photosynthesis, plants are able to grow and develop while providing the oxygen that makes life on Earth possible. This is just one of the reasons why plant photosynthesis is one of the most important processes, because without it, life as we know it would not be possible.
